Which keywords are best for a local SEO campaign?
Using hyper location SEO strategies, Brooklyn businesses can drive more traffic and customers to their brick and mortar locations. The first step is choosing a targeted keyword. This might be a combination of your neighborhood and one of your products or services. (Check out my SEO expert page for an example of an optimized landing page. The keyword is “seo expert.”)
Create a Keyword-Optimized Landing Page
If you are a pet shop in Fort Greene, an appropriate keyword for your homepage (or separate landing page) might be “Fort Greene pet store.” You’ll want to create the page with content pertaining to that exact keyword.
SEO plugins like Yoast will scan your page’s content and tell you what you need to do to make the webpage fully optimized for your specific keyword. I use Yoast every day to help me achieve my SEO goals for both myself and my clients.
On page content to boost local SEO rankings:
- Address listed in text
- Email address with live link
- Embedded google map with your location displayed
- Links to your business listing on directories like yelp
- Photos of your location tagged with keyword optimized alt-tags (so google can read your images)
- Customer Reviews
Once you’ve created your optimized web page, you’ll want to do some simple link building. You can start with free local business directories like yelp and even Facebook. Maintaining a presence on websites that display your address and link back to your website will help boost your local SEO rankings. The more websites that display consistent contact information with links back to your website, the more google will trust your domain.
Reviews on Facebook, yelp and other heavy hitting websites will help build your Business’s local SEO value.
You’ll also greatly benefit from having customers leave reviews on your Google+ page. While most consumers aren’t using Google+, Google itself will boost the rank of domains that are associated with multiple positive reviews on Google+.
